Monster Mash

No Halloween would be complete without this song.”Monster Mash” (1962) by Bobby “Boris” Pickett.

From Wikipedia

The “Monster Mash” single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on October 20 of that year, just in time for Halloween. It has been a perennial holiday favorite ever since.

And just in case you want to sing along.

Monster Mash
By: Bobby Pickett and Lenny Capizzi

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin’, all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, “The Crypt-Kicker Five”

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash

Out from his coffin, Drac’s voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, “Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?”

It’s now the mash
It’s now the monster mash
The monster mash
And it’s a graveyard smash
It’s now the mash
It’s caught on in a flash
It’s now the mash
It’s now the monster mash

Now everything’s cool, Drac’s a part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash
The monster mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You’ll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash

Have you seen this?

If you look long enough you can see the change in perspective.

How do they do it?

Zombies, Zombies, Zombies

Tis’ the season… Murder, Death, Kill.

This weekend I thing I have watched more movies and shows about zombies than ever before. Here are some of the shows that I watched. Not to mention the NCIS and Criminal Minds marathons that were on too.

Planet Terro (2007) by Robert Rodriguez

After an experimental bio-weapon is released, turning thousands into zombie-like creatures, it’s up to a rag-tag group of survivors to stop the infected and those behind its release.

Masters of HorrorHomecoming (2005)

A publicity official for the U.S. Army finds that he might have to be working a lot more than he imagined, when the deceased soldiers of the war come back to life, looking for a few good men.

Masters of Horror Full Episode (Homecoming)

Zombie Apocalypse (2011)

Months after a zombie plague has wiped out 90 percent of the American population, a small group of survivors fight their way cross-country to a rumored refuge on the island of Catalina.

This was a pretty good movie up to the last 10 minutes… ugh! Two words — zombie tiger.

Zombies: A Living History (TV documentary) (2011)

Relentless. Infectious. All consuming. Since the beginning of time they have embodied our deepest fears and today their power to frighten us is more potent than ever before. They are the monster that history cannot kill.

And of course The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse; it follows a small group of survivors, traveling across the desolate United States in search of a new home away from the shuffling hordes of the undead (or “walkers”).

Don’t know if I can handle any more movies or shows about zombies. But in case your need to read more about them, check these sites out.

Have a Happy Halloween!

St. Louis Cardinals — World Series Champions

Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals in winning the 2011 World Series. I was rooting for the Texas Rangers (since I live in Texas and since the Detroit Tigers were eliminated).

Now, I’m a sports fan and I like watching games on TV. But I think I watched more baseball during the playoffs than the past ten years. I have the attention span of a gnat and baseball games are so long, I just can’t sit and watch the game.

But since the Tigers were in the playoffs, I decided to watch the games. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m going to be watching more baseball games next season, but I might catch one or two regular season games.

So until next season… here is Harry Caray singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame“.

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win, it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.

DWTS — Week 6

It was Broadway Week on Dancing With the Stars (Season 13) and it was an interesting show.

Like always, here are my 2-cents on tonight’s show.

Who did the bestNancy Grace and Tristan MacManus. And I am not just saying this because I love Tristan!! I was really surprised by their dance on the show.Who knew that Nancy Grace could dance??

Who really needs to go home — For their “dancing”, I would have to pick Chaz Bono  and Lacey Schwimmer. I think this might be the time for them to go home.

But attitude-wise, I would have to pick Hope Solo  and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Is it just me or does Hope Solo have a bad attitude? It seems she hardly says anything nice and she is always picking a fight with Maks. And she looks like she really doesn’t want to be there.
