100 Foods to Eat Before You Die

Side Note: It came to my attention (via a comment) that the list of foods is not the same list that is on the Facebook list of Foods to Eat Before You Die. My bad, I did not open that Facebook app to see the list. I used parts of other lists that I found when I Googled — Foods to Eat Before You Die. Sorry for any confusion.

There has been this list of the 100 Foods to Eat Before You Die on Facebook lately. It didn’t get a chance to read it on Facebook, so I Googled it and here is the list. The foods that I have tried are crossed out. Let see if I can cross out more of these foods on this list by the end of the year.

100 Foods to Eat Before You Die

1. Venison – Yes, have been tricked into eat venison a couple of times!
2. Nettle tea – No, going to have to Google to see what this is.
3. Huevos Rancheros – Yes
4. Steak Tartare – Maybe, I have had Carpaccio of beef is a thin slice of raw beef, does that count?
5. Crocodile- I’ve had Alligator, that’s close isn’t it?
6. Black pudding – No
7. Cheese fondue – Yes, my sister’s late sister-in-law would have cheese fondue at her New Year’s Eve party.
8. Carp – No, but I have seen them swimming in the Flint River.
9. Borscht – No
10. Baba Ghanoush – Yes. plus I like saying Baba Ghanoush!
11. Calamari – Yes
12. Pho – No
13. PB&J sandwich – Yes and the jelly has to be Grape
14. Aloo gobi – No
15. Hot dog from a street cart – Yes
16. Epoisses – No, going to have to Google to see what this is.
17. Black truffle – No
18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes – Maybe, can’t remember
19. Steamed pork buns – No, going to have to Google to see what this is.
20. Pistachio ice cream – Yes, probably my favorite ice cream ever!
21. Heirloom tomatoes – No
22. Fresh wild berries – Yes, we had little strawberries growing in our yard when I was young.
23. Foie gras – No
24. Rice and beans – Yes, hello, being Mexican, I think that was one of my first meals growing up.
25. Brawn, or head cheese – No, but my parents seem to enjoy eating it.
26. Raw Scotch Bonnet pepper – No
27. Dulce de leche – Yes, I remember my grandmother making this from scratch and it was really good.
28. Oysters – No, but a platter of oysters on the half shell look pretty cool.
29. Baklava – Yes, as my friend, TJ, would say… “a little piece of heaven!”
30. Bagna cauda – No, going to have to Google to see what this is.
31. Wasabi peas – Yes
32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl – Yes
33. Salted lassi – No
34. Sauerkraut – Yes
35. Root beer float – Yes and others made with Coke, Big Red and Vernor’s (it’s a Michigan thing).
36. Cognac with a fat cigar – No
37. Clotted cream tea – No
38. Vodka jelly/Jell-O shot – Yes… to many to count!
39. Gumbo – Yes and even had some at the market in New Orleans.

41. Curried goat – No, have a thing about eating goat.

44. Goat’s milk – No, again the goat thing.

49. Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut – Yes, oh dear Lord, I can eat two of them by the time I get them from the drive thru window and make it the the end of the parking lot.

So, first I will have to figure out the ones I don’t know. Then, I need to see what foods I can cross off my list.

  1. NOT THE SAME AS THE FACEBOOK LIST!!! Facebook list doesn’t have a McDonalds Meal or Roadkill, etc

    • Thanks for reading my blog. I have to admit that I did not open the app on Facebook. I used another list, I thought they were the same.

      I’ll make a note about that on that blog posting.
