Love this Song

There are so many songs that I love. Here is one of them, “There’s Nothing Better Than Love” (1987) by by Luther Vandross and actor/dancer/singer Gregory Hines.

I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it back in 1987. I knew Luther Vandross could sing, but I was surprised on how good Gregory Hines was. I knew he could dance and act, but sing!! As I was watching the video (at least six times in a row), I couldn’t help but smile.

Sadly, both of them are no longer with us. Heaven must sound pretty good with them up there. At least we have their music that they left behind.

Here are the lyrics to the song for those of you who, like me, like to sing-a-long to the song.

There’s Nothing Better Than Love
Luther Vandross featuring Gregory Hines

I fell asleep last night
And I dreamed the night
and almost half the day away
I just got up so that
I can hear her say
She’s still in love
and no one can take her love away
Ooo love wakes me up everyday
And I thought no one
would ever make me feel this way
It feels me up everytime
I hear her say
She’s still in love
and no one will take her love away
I wanna be love[Chorus:]
There’s nothing better than love
What in the world
could you ever be thinking of
It’s better by far
So let yourself reach for that star
And go no matter how far
To the one you love
To love

And I mean all these words I said
And you don’t have to guess
what’s going on inside me head
Just try to know
All the things that our heart says
Listen to love and always
get love to lead the way
Whenever you love

[Chorus]

[Bridge:]
You know for love
I’d go anywhere
I would go there
For love to the end of nowhere
And for your love
(And for your love)
I would,
I would
I would love
To just spend all my time
With a girl who makes me
feel her love is mine
Someone you see
Who would only dream of me
And she be in love
just because she wanna be
She wanna be loved

[Chorus]

  1. A great song indeed. Luther has always been one of my favorites and he was one of my favorites in person. I saw him twice I think thanks to a great big sister. I wish I could say I have a favorite Luther song but most of his songs were epic. Favorite duet is with Cheryl Lynn, If This World Were Mine and solo, A House Is Not A Home. Enjoy your weekend Sylvia and I’m curious about how you think the Super Bowl will unfold…

    • I would have loved to seen him in concert. I remember hearing some ladies who were going to see him in concert, they cracked me up. They were fanning themselves and making all kinds of noises. I also like Superstar and A House Is Not A Home. I just posted my Super Bowl pick.
