How sad that musician/actress Whitney Houston died today at the age of 48.
(AP) LOS ANGELES – Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music’s queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.
Just the other day, I was looking for my Whitney Houston CD, Whitney (1987). It had a song on there that I did not have on my iPod. The song was “I Know Him So Well” a duet with her mother, Cissy Houston.
I realized that I had given the CD to my sister, Cynthia. So when I was visiting my sister, I was able to add the song to my iTunes library.
Another song by Whitney Houston that us amazing is her version of the “The Star Spangled Banner” she performed at Super Bowl XXV on January 27, 1991. It is probably one of the best, if nit the best version of this song.
There are so many of her songs that I like and have enjoyed her music since she arrived on the music scene in 1985. Some of my favorites are:
- “Greatest Love of All” (1986)
- “So Emotional” (1987)
- “One Moment in Time” (1988)
- “I’m Every Woman” (1993)
- “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” (1995)
- “I Believe in You and Me” (1996) — this song makes me cry every time I hear it.
- “When You Believe” with Mariah Carey (1998)
