Have you ever seen or received a card with Hoops and Yoyo on it? My niece, Pam, told me about them about three years aga and I fell in love with them.
Hoops & Yoyo are a pair of animated characters featured on Hallmark Cards. The website features E-cards, animated episodes, an “Ask hoops&yoyo” section, desktop and phone wallpapers, audio snippets, IM icons, fan photos, interactive monthly calendars, blog, podcast, and merchandise available for purchase.
The storylines center around two main characters: Hoops, a pink cat, and Yoyo, a green bunny, and also feature a few other humorous characters joining them. It shows their usual antics in a “Slice of Life” matter.
They were created by Mike Adair.
They are just too cute. If you get a chance, take a look at Hoops and Yoyo on the Hallmark website.

The movie that I am talking about is Stephen King’s The Stand (1994). The miniseries is based on the novel The Stand by Stephen King. I’m not sure why I watch the whole thing or some of the four (4) parts of it. Maybe it’s the music? Or maybe it’s the corny quotes in the movie?? Who knows, but every time the SciFi channel shows it, I’m there!
Synopsis: One sunny June day, the government loses control of a biological weapons experiment, unleashing a deadly plague that kills 99% of the population. Now the survivors gather together in two groups: one aligned with the forces of good, and one with an entity who might be the devil himself. The future of mankind hinges on the courage of the survivors to stand and face down this entity…
This four-part miniseries tells the story of horror author Stephen King’s book The Stand. A super virus is leaked from a lab and kills most of the population in what appears to be The Plague (Part 1). The survivors share The Dreams (Part 2). Then fight to stay alive as they break into groups of good and evil in The Betrayal (Part 3). The Stand (Part 4) between good and evil is the final episode.
The movie has a star-studded cast which includes: Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald, Jamey Sheridan (as the “bad” guy in a blue jean jacket), Laura San Giacomo, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, Ray Walston, Rob Lowe and two of my favoirte characters in the movie: Matt Frewer as Trashcan Man and Bill Fagerbakke as Tom Cullen… “M-O-O-N, that spells Tom Cullen.” Then there is Stephen King who is always in his movies somehow.
I really don’t remember watching it when it came out in 1994. I think I remember them making a big deal about it because it was Rob Lowe big come back movie??
Here are some of the songs that are played in the movie:
Here are some of the corny quotes (or Memorable quotes as IMDB calls them) from the movie:
I warned you, they’re not the best of quotes!
I’m sure that the next time this movie comes on TV, I’ll have it on in the backgroud or flipping back and forth to whatever else is on.

I remember when I started this blog, I was doing it more for me and never dreamt that anyone else would be interested in reading whatever popped into my head. But when I saw the number of hits was over 50,000 this week, I almost fell out of my chair! Now to some people, that may not seem like a huge milestone, but for me, it’s a huge milestone.
Who are these people who are reading my blog? Must importantly, why are they reading my blog. Whatever the reasons are for reading my blog, I am very much appreciative that people take the time to read my blog. Here’s to the next 50,000 hits!

As I was watching the Detroit Lions (0-12) and Tennessee Titans (11-1) (final score Titans 47 – Lions 10) play and then listening to it on my Sirius XM radio while I was going to my great aunt’s house for Thanksgiving dinner, I was hoing that they would lose another game.
Is that how a fan should be thinking, hoping their team loses?? I really want them to have a perfect “winless” season this year. And I think that they have the team to do it this year.
The two good things that came from this game was kicker Jason Hanson who kicked a 53-yard field goal against the Tennessee Titans and tied Morten Andersen’s NFL record for the most kicks from 50-plus yards. And Lions sold out their Thanksgiving Day game against the Titans, making the TV broadcast available in the area.
I looked up the worst NFL teams of all time and here is what I found:
- 1976 Buccaneers (0-14)
- 1990 Patriots (1-15)
- 1973 Oilers (1-13)
- 1971 Bills (1-13)
- 1981 Colts (2-14)
- 1991 Colts (1-15)
- 1952 Texans (1-11)
- 1980 Saints (1-15)
- 2001 Carolina Panthers (1-15)
- 1934 Cincinnati Reds (0-8)
From Worst NFL teams of all time. The Lions were all on the list: 1942 Lions (0-11).
Maybe this season, the Lions can make it on the Top 10 List, maybe even #1 on the list!! That’s not too much to ask is it??
I also enjoyed the articles from the Detroit Free Press:
Lions must stomach worst Thanksgiving loss ever
Lions get stuffed by Titans
Can’t wait to see what they write if the Lions do go 0-16 for the season.

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Well, Dancing with the Stars is over for the season and the winner of the mirrored ball thropy…
BROOKE AND DEREK
Out of all of the season’s of DWTS, I would say Brooke and Derek were the best! She definitely set the bar high for the stars that will be on the show next season.
So of the things that I liked about this season’s show were:
- Rocco DiSpirito — I wished he would have done better, would of likes to see him on the show more!
- Ted McGinley — hopefully his “Jump the Shark” curse won’t effect the show
- Corky Ballas — it would be nice to see him dance in next season’s show
- and I can’t leave out watching Warren Sapp — he was too fun to watch.
I can’t wait till next season and wonder who will be dancing??
Thanks to Dave Campbell, the author of the Dancing with the Stars Live Blog. It’s been fun reading what he write while watching the show.

The finals of Dancing with the Stars was on tonight and the finalists were:
Looking back at my past posts, I picked Misty May-Treanor and Maksim Chmerkovskiy to win. But Misty got hurt while practicing one of the dances. (Still haven’t figure that one out. Two Olympics and # of matches and she gets hurt in “ballroom dancing”??)
I think Warren is my most surprised finalist. I didn’t think the big guy could move on the floor like he did. The man did a cartwheel in his Samba routine! Goes to show you that anyone can learn how to ballroom dance. And Lance has improved these past couple of weeks, that I kind of liked his routines — but I still have my issues about Lacey. So anyone of these teams could win this season.
Out of the three, here is how I ranked their freestyle performance:
- Brooke and Derek –it had a little bit of everything that they did good this past season.
- Warren and Kym — Anyone who dances to Ike & Tina Turner‘s “Proud Mary” is aces in my book!
- Lance and Lacey — the hip-hop routine was nothing spectacular.
So, once again, here is my pick to win this season’s Dancing with the Stars: Brooke and Derek.
I can’t wait till the winner is announced on tomorrow’s show.
After the season is over, check out these websites:
