More Halloween Fun

Halloween won’t be Halloween with about a little “Monster Mash”! Here is a version by the Groovie Goolies.

Monster Mash” is a 1962 song by Bobby “Boris” Pickett.

He did the mash

He did the monster mash

The monster mashIt was a graveyard smash

He did the mash

It caught on in a flash

Happy Halloween

pump1-10As Halloween approaches, I was thinking of all the pumpkins that I carved. I remember trying to think of a cool design to carve in the pumpkin, but when it came time to actually carve the pumpkin… my poor little pumpkins consisted of triangle eyes and nose and a crooked attempt at a scary mouth.

Here are some amazing pumpkin carving that I found on Toxel.com. Found this site from @GuyKawasaki Twitter post: Top 20 crazy pumpkin carvings.

Just in time for the Halloween festivities, Toxel has pulled together 20 amazing pumpkin carvings.

This dog running back and forth is how I feel sometimes!!

Man, yesterday I blogged about how how I think the New York Yankees were going to win the World Series… well they lost game one. Good thing I picked them to win it in 7 games!

Does anyone else not read instructions or manuals on things they get? I glance at them, but I don’t read them. I’m more of the trail and error type of person when it comes to that kind of stuff. I managed to fix the problem with my e-mail account on my cell phone after tinkering with it — Woo Whoo!!

How many times do you apply at a company that you really want to work at? Is there a file with resumes of people who apply and apply for positions and not get called in?

Been watching Project Runway (Season 6) on Lifetime. Not too sure how this season compares to the other season. Right now, I’m not liking any of the designers like in past seasons. This week, one of the more interesting one (and cutest one) Logan Neitzel was voted off.

The World Series — New York Yankees over the Philadelphia Phillies

2009 World Series

Well, it’s that time of the year for the 2009 The World Series. The best-of-seven playoff will be played between the Philadelphia Phillies, champions of the National League (NL), and the New York Yankees, champions of the American League (AL). I am picking the Yankees to beat the Phillies, 4 games to 3. That way, the Yankees can win at home at Yankee Stadium.

NewYorkYankees

I am going to try to watch some of the games, but since I have the attention span of a gnat, I can only handle watching the last innings of the game.  When I was a “yute“, I could name a number of players on a team. But now, I’m lucky if I know 4 or 5 players.

The Yankee players I know are: Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui and Alex Rodriguez. On the Phillies, ummm…. I’m thinking… Cole Hamels… that’s all I got.

Maybe after watching the teams play in the World Series, I can learn more of the players on the teams.

Go Yankees Go!

Do you remember “Q*bert”?

Q*bertOh, how I hated this video game! I know “hate” is a strong word, but I can’t think of any other word to describe how I feel about this video game.

Q-bert

What is Q*bert?

Q*bert is an isometric platform game with puzzle elements where the player controls the titular protagonist from a third-person perspective. The player traverses a pyramid by moving Q*bert diagonally from cube to cube. Landing on a cube causes it to change color, and changing every cube to the same color allows the player to progress to the next stage. Later stages require the player to change the color multiple times. Jumping off the pyramid results in the character dying.

from wikipedia.com

Alright, after reading that, I still have no idea how to play the video game!

First of all, it seemed like every time I went to Playland (on Dort Hwy.), I played this video game.

Second, I really didn’t know how to play this video game, so I would never get past the first screen. Playing the game, I would get anxiety attacks when I would be chased on that damn pyramid. (Maybe that is where my anxiety problems started!)

While I was looking up information on Q*bert, I found Q*bert 2004 on Classic Games Arcade. I thought, now that I’m older and wiser… just go with me on this one… I could finally play this game!

DAMN IT!! I killed my first three guys!!

Man, even after all these years… I still hate this stupid game!!

DWTS — Week 6

It’s getting serious now, double elimination tomorrow night. I have been trying to be good and watch DWTS, but I have found myself switching channels to watch “One Tree Hill.”

But I watched all of the dances. I have to agree with the judges, it being week 6, I expect the dances to be a little better than they were.

Who did the best: Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer

Mark Dacascos & Lacey Schwimmer

WOW, maybe they can dance: Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff — as long as Aaron doesn’t go overboard and show-ff, he does pretty good. (Still don’t want them to win!)

Who should leave: Any two of these teams can be voted off, I think it is their time to go.  Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas, Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova, Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower.

Side Notes:

  • Favorite song of the night: “Ran Kan Kan” by Tito Puente — “The King of Latin Music”

Bank Account

You know how I feel about chain e-mails, it freaks me out a little when I get one and it seems like it is something that I need to hear at the moment.

I got this one from my friend, Rita, the other day. After reading a couple of times, it seems so simple. I especially like the “Remember the five simple rules to be happy”. Whenever I get too stressed out, I need to remember the “five simple rules to be happy!”

So thanks Rita for sending this to me and I will be sending this to 7 people to share.

Bank Account

This is AWESOME … something we should all remember.

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.

I love it, ‘ he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. Mr. Jones, you haven’t seen the room; just wait.’

‘That doesn’t have anything to do with it,’ he replied. Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.

‘It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away. Just for this time in my life.

Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you’ve put in.

So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!

Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank. I am still depositing.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.

2. Free your mind from worries.

3. Live simply.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less.

Pass this message to 7 people except me. You will receive a miracle tomorrow.

Now, STOP! Did you hear what I just said. You WILL receive a miracle Tomorrow.

So send it right now!

Have a nice day, unless you already have other plans.
