Best movies of 2010

Here are some of the movies that were on the Moviefone – 50 Best Movies of 2010.

Saying ‘Toy Story 3’ is “just an animated movie” is rather like saying the Taj Mahal is just a building. Or a Ferrari is just a car. Or … well, you get the point. Hilarious (Mr. Tortilla Head!), heartbreaking, even white-knuckle thrilling, this film introduced terrific new characters and brought us full circle with the ones we already loved. ‘Toy Story 3’ isn’t just for kids — it’s for adults who remember what it’s like to be kids. It’s both the best film of an already great franchise and our unanimous pick for the best movie of 2010. — PJC

I only saw one movie out of the list (Toy Story 3).

Maybe I should go see a movie on my 2011 To Do List.

End of the year lists

I’m a little behind on posting some of my favorite lists that come out at the end of the year.

Here is Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles in 2010. After looking at the list, I felt really out of it that I only knew a handful of the songs that came out in 2010. Give me the good old music from the 80’s any day over what is out now!

How many of these songs do you have?

Merry Christmas

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself…
~ Norman Wesley Brooks, “Let Every Day Be Christmas,” 1976

I’m trying to get in the mood and celebrate the holidays, but it is hard since this is the first one without my mom.

Here is one of my favorite songs to listen to during the holiday season.

Fruit cake

My cousin, Becky posted this on Facebook and I thought it
was pretty funny.

Thanks, Becky.

Fruit Cake

1 cup water

1 cup of sugar

4 large eggs

2 cups dried fruit

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup brown sugar

lemon juice

nuts

1 gallon whiskey

Sample the whiskey to check for quality.

Take a large bowl.

Check the whiskey again to be sure it is of the highest quality.

Pour one level cup and drink.

Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer; beat 1 cup butter in a large, fluffy bowl.

Add 1 teaspoon sugar and beat again.

Make sure the whiskey is still OK.

Cry another tup.

Turn off mixer.

Break 2 legs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of
dried fruit.

Mix on the turner.

If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the whiskey to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift 2 cups of salt. Or something, Who cares.

Check the whiskey.

Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table. Spoon. Of sugar or something.

Whatever you can find.

Grease the oven.

Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees.

Don’t forget to beat off the turner.

Throw the bowl out of the window.

Check the whiskey again.

Go to bed.

Who the hell like fruitcake anyway?

University of Hawaii Marching Band

Have you seen this video of the University of Hawaii Marching Band forming a giant football player? I saw it on Huffington Post and thought it was pretty cool.

Hard to Believe

Last year at this time, I was in the hospital with double pneumonia. I was begging the doctor to let me out for my birthday. The last place I wanted to be I my birthday was in the hospital.

I have always love my birthday. I loved to celebrate it my my special way. But this year is a little different. When I got out of the hospital last year, my mom went in the hospital and never came home again. We never had a chance to go out to dinner for my birthday.

This will be my first birthday without my mom here. I’m going to try my hardest to keep myself together and enjoy my birthday.

So far, I have had some friends on Facebook wish me a Happy Birthday. And one of my dearest friends, Rita, had her son Robby (16) on December 17th and I thought that was pretty cool.

I’m going to count my blessings and the kind words from family and friends on my birthday to help me get through this.

Christmas Laugh

I got a e-mail from my cousin, Lisa (the Michigan one) and it was just what I need to bring a little laugh to this difficult Christmas season.

So thanks for the laugh Lis, I love you!
