Video of the Week — Fantasy

Fantasy” (1978) by Earth, Wind & Fire.

Not sure when I first heard this song. I think I had some single 45’s of Earth, Wind & Fire while I was growing up. It could have been then that I first heard this song. It is probably one of my favorite songs from Earth, Wind & Fire. I have been a fan of Philip Bailey since I first hear him sing. The other songs being — “Boogie Wonderland” (featuring The Emotions) (1979), “Let’s Groove” (1981) and “September” (1978).

When I Googled Earth, Wind & Fire, I didn’t realize that they had been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

Rolling Stone has described them as “innovative, precise yet sensual, calculated yet galvanizing” and has also declared that the band “changed the sound of black pop”.

While I was writing this post, I was listening the the song on YouTube over and over. That is how much I like this song. And then I thought to myself, how cool would it to have seen Earth, Wind & Fire in concert in the 70’s!

Every man has a place
In his heart there’s a space
And the world can’t
erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky
On our ship fantasise
All your dreams will come true right away
