Let’s start of Halloween with another great song.

Thriller” (1982) by Michael Jackson.

Happy Halloween

Well, Halloween is tomorrow and I can’t wait till its over. No, it’s not because i don’t like Halloween. It’s a good holiday. It’s because the radio stations just love playing the song, “Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett.

“Monster Mash” is a 1962 novelty song and the best-known song by Bobby “Boris” Pickett

It a good song to hear once or maybe four times, the few weeks before Halloween. But this morning it heard it three times before I got to work (that’s a 35 minute drive.)

So here is the video and the lyrics so you can have this song in your head all day!

Monster Mash by Bobby “Boris” Pickett

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin’, all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, “The Crypt-Kicker Five”

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash

Out from his coffin, Drac’s voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, “Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?”

It’s now the mash
It’s now the monster mash
The monster mash
And it’s a graveyard smash
It’s now the mash
It’s caught on in a flash
It’s now the mash
It’s now the monster mash

Now everything’s cool, Drac’s a part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash
The monster mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You’ll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash

Dancing with the Stars — The All-Stars — Week 6

Dancing with the Stars — The All-Stars

Week 6: Country Week

Each contestant and their partner danced to a country song, hence the name “Country Week.” Each individual routine included a solo portion by the celebrity member of the pair

I was trying my best to pay attention to tonight’s show. With watching updates about Hurricane Sandy, football, playing Zombie Farm and finding the cables to my printer… it was a busy night. Plus, this season, I am not into all of the back stories of their journey to the dance. I would just rather watch then dance. Plus, the judges, well Carrie Ann Inaba, in particular, is getting on my nerves more this year. And then there is the drama with the stars and professionals crying abut how hard it is for them… I’ve only got one thing to say about that… There is no crying in ballroom dancing!

So hear is my two-cents for the night.

The best of the night —  Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani

I’m not a 100% fan of Melissa, but she and Tony did really goo tonight. Plus I really wont Tony to win once and someone who has not won win this season.

The Oh they need to go home pairKirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley

It’s been entertaining watching her this season, but enough is enough. She had her 15 minutes of glory, now its time for the real serious contenders.

If this pair doesn’t go home, then Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke should be the next pair voted off. I just don’t like this pair at all and they already have won a mirror ball trophy. Move along and let someone else win.

Best song(s) of the night —

“I Play Chicken with a Train”—Cowboy Troy

Home“—Blake Shelton — I love this song. I love Michael Bublé  version better. But Blake’s is pretty close.

Looking forward to the results show tomorrow night. Let’s see if any of my prediction come true!

Side note:

While I watch the show, I am on the social media site, Get Glue. Because of Hurricane Sandy, some of DWTS fans could not watch the show. So there were some other fans of the show posting the dances, scores and some of the comments from the show on the site. I thought that was pretty cool that totally strangers but fans of the same show would do something like this for them!

All-Star Teams

One Friday and Saturday of this past week, two people that I have known for most of my life past away.

On Friday, my great-aunt, Clara died at the age of 92. She was suffering from dementia and had recently gotten the flu/cold bug.

She and my great-uncle had 12 children, 36 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Just recently, the family had lost their father and a brother and sister to cancer.

I will remember Tia (aunt in Spanish) by the way she dressed up in her hats and wigs for special occasions. Her stuffing that she made for family get togethers. I’m really not sure what was in that stuffing and I don’t think I want to know what was in the stuffing, but it was good.

The other person who past away on Saturday was my aunt’s father, Bill. He was unique. He was always dressed like he was going somewhere special. Pressed shirts, pressed jeans and his hat.

He also suffered from dementia and had recently gotten pneumonia and was in the hospital. Weird thing about this, is I had text my cousin, Lisa, Billy was her grandfather, to let her know about our great-aunt. She was at the hospital.

My prayers are with my cousins during this sad time.

Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

Blue Bloods

Friday night is becoming one of my favorite nights to watch TV. One of the shows that I really enjoy watching is “Blue Bloods” on  CBS.

The series follows the Irish-American Reagan family of police officers with the New York City Police Department (NYPD). Francis “Frank” Reagan (Tom Selleck) is the Police Commissioner. He was a U.S. Marine and a Vietnam veteran before he joined the NYPD. He is a widower whose son Joe died in the line of duty, leaving him three remaining adult children—Danny, Erin, and Jamie. (from

OK, the real reason I enjoy watching this show so much is because of Tom Selleck!

Here are some of the reasons I like Tom Selleck so much:

Two words — Magnum, P.I. He made wearing a Hawaiian shirt sexy!

He’s 6’4″ tall! Tall, dark and handsome!

He was born in Detroit, Michigan. I was born in Michigan. It’s like I’m one degree away from knowing him! (Just go with me on my little fantasy here!)

He is one of a very few men who look damn good with a mustache!

His smile! On the tonight’s episode, the last scene was on him smiling! OMG!! I think I blacked out for a minute! His dimples!! I just can’t seem to find the words to describe them!

One the Get Glue site, fans of the show had a fun time talking about the show. I can’t wait till next week’s show.

If you haven’t watch this show yet, you should, it’s pretty good!

Cast of Blue Bloods:

Halloween Pumpkin

With Halloween coming up, I thought I would find and post some of the more interesting and fun pumpkins that I have found while searching the Internet.

I’m amazed at how people can do this to pumpkins. I can barely cut simple triangles for the eyes and nose of a pumpkin!

I’ll post more pictures when I find them. Here’s the first one.

Dancing with the Stars — The All-Stars

Week 5: Guilty pleasures

  • The top two couples with the highest total cumulative points/average became “team captains” and chose teams to join them in the Team Freestyle; these captains were Gilles & Peta and Shawn & Derek. Gilles & Peta’s team consists of Kelly & Val, Emmitt & Cheryl, and Kirstie & Maks. Shawn & Derek’s team consists of Sabrina & Louis, Melissa & Tony, and Apolo & Karina. Bristol & Mark would have joined the team who lost a member, but they were eliminated in Week Four. (from

OK, the 2nd half of the show was tonight and I think it was a little better than last night’s show.

My favorite pair from tonight’s show was Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel.  I really hope that a star that has not won before wins the mirror trophy. And Sabrina and Louis look like they are having a lot of fun on the dance floor.

Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel

And the best song of the night was “Give It to Me Baby“—Rick James. I was just saying to myself, why isn’t there more ballroom dancing to Rick James music!

So everyone is safe this week and on next week’s show, someone will go home. I still don’t have my pick of who I want to win yet. I have some favorites, but I can’t pick just one pair right now. I will by the end of the show… I think?!

Until next week!
