Shrimp Boil

This past weekend I went to Lake Charles, Louisiana girl the weekend. I had never been there and I thought it would be a fun place to go.

It’s about a six hours drive from San Antonio. I left on a Friday morning and made it to Lake Charles just in time to have dinner there.

A coworker suggested that I go to Steamboat bills to get some good food. The place is known for its good food and their seafood.

I decided to try the Spicy Shrimp boil boil in a side order of red beans and rice.

I think that that was the best shrimp tails I have ever had. The size of those shrimp with the biggest did that I have ever seen. So boil was spicy but not too spicy foods just enough to have a little heat. But I had enough sweet tea that I didn’t mind the little heat.

After I ate all of the shrimp I didn’t have room for dessert. But when I was leaving I did notice the cooler that was filled with all the desserts that they have. So I decided to get a piece of carrot cake to go. That was another good choice to make because that was probably one of the Top 3 best carrot cake that I have ever had.

After I left the restaurant I drove around downtown Lake Charles and I parked in the parking lot to the shore. Other people were walking and running on the sidewalk I was in my car eating my carrot cake. I didn’t feel bad at all sitting there while everybody else was exercising. The next day I decided to go to the newest casino in Lake Charles the Golden Nugget. I am not much of a gambler mostly because I have the attention span of a gnat. But I did manage spend about an hour at the penny slot machines. I made my money back and I even made five cent profit. So that is a win for me.

Once I was done at the slot machine it was time for lunch. At the casino they had a Saltgrass restaurant. I like that place the food is always good and I’ve never had a bad meal there. After lunch I drove around Lake Charles a little bit more before the heat and humidity of Southwest Louisiana got to me.

I went back to my hotel room and rested and relaxed for the rest of the evening, it was the end of a good day.

The next day I made it to the free breakfast before my trip back to San Antonio. Some things that I learned: 1) is that 6 hours driving now is a lot different than when I was 25. I was ready to pull over after an hour of driving and the traffic in Houston! It sucks! 2) I have some really strange music on my iPod. I am the type of person to put any type of music on my iPod. But there are some music that I even I question why I even have it? And C) I am a lone wolf traveler I have no problem taking a road trip or do anything by myself. I have the freedom to do whatever I want to do and not worry if the other person is having fun or not. Plus if I want to listen to a song 7 times in a row, I can do that.

Now I’m planning my next road trip, I think I’m going to travel west in Texas headed to El Paso and maybe go into New Mexico to see what is going on over there.
