Saying for the Day

Wanted to share this.

Make it a great week.

Song of the Day

Thought I would start the week off with this song. I’ve been listening to is over and over and never get tired of it.

This was one of the very first songs I looked for when I got my very first iPod. I have always loved this song. It came out the year I was born, so a lot of things come out of the year!

Oh How Happy” (1966) by Shades of Blue

The Shades of Blue were an American blue-eyed soul vocal group from Livonia, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

The band started in high school as The Domingos. Original group members included Nick Marinelli, Ernie Dernai, Linda Allen, and Bob Kerr. By 1965 The Domingos signed a recording contract for the Detroit-based Golden World label. John Rhys, a sound engineer, suggested a name change and The Shades of Blue was the result.[2]

Their biggest hit was the 1966 song “Oh How Happy“, written by Edwin Starr, which reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, number 16 on the US Billboard R&B chart,

In case you need to words to sing this song.

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

I have kissed your lips a thousand times
And more times than I can count
I have called you mine
You have stood by me in my darkest hour

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

In our years together
We have had stormy weather
But our love has been so strong
That somehow we’ve carried on

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

And all that was wrong
You have made it right
And I love, I love, I love you

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

(Oh, how happy)
Oh, how happy
(Oh, how happy)
Oh, how happy
(Oh, how happy)
You

(You have made me)
You have made me
(You have made me)
You have made me
(You have made me)
You have made me

Saying of the Week

I’m waiting…

Will it ever happen?

A Night With Janis Joplin

Another great shpow at The Tobin Center in San Antonio.

“A Night With Janis Joplin.”

The show featured Kelly McIntyre as Janis Joplin and she was amazing!

Some of the songs from the show were:

“Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Mercedes Benz,” “Cry Baby” and “Summertime.”

The show’s Joplin interjects the songs with stories about her life, and also showcases some of the singers who influenced her, including Bessie Smith, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone and Odetta.

I had no idea what to expect. I’m a fan of her music and know a little about her. But I learned so much more about her, her life and her music.

I’m so glad I got again tickets to see some fabulous shows at one of my favorite places to see shows… The Tobin Center.

Till the next show.

Side Note:

Janis Joplin was born on January 19, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, and died of a heroin overdose a mere 27 years later on October 4, 1970, in Los Angeles, California. But, in that all too brief interim, she managed to pack a helluva lot of living and became one of the biggest female rock stars of her time.
