Thanks for My Gift

I want to thank my sister, Cynthia and brother-in-law, Dan for my birthday gift. They got me a gift card from Amazon.

I finally got the purse/bag that I’ve been hemming and hawing about for a couple of months.

Baggallini Criss-Cross Bag.

I was surprised on how much fit in there. I was able to put everything that I had in my over-sized hobo bag/purse in there.

Everything fits so neat in there. Pockets for all of my extra stuff I carry. I swear, I could be on “Let’s Make A Deal” and I could pull out the strangest of things.

So, thanks Cynthia and Dan for letting me finally get the vag I wanted.

Z Nation

Has anyone else been watching Z Nation?

Z Nation

Z Nation is an American horror-comedy-drama/post-apocalyptic television series that airs on Syfy.

I started watching a marathon earlier this year and I got hooked. It a pretty good show. I like how there is a storyline that arcs ever episode. But then each show has it’s own story, start to finish, each week.

Here is the premise of Z Nation

Z Nation begins three years into a virus-caused zombie apocalypse, which has already killed most humans. A group must transport Murphy, the only known survivor of a zombie bite who did not himself turn into a zombie, from New York to the world’s last known functioning research lab in California. Murphy had been the unwilling subject of a government test vaccine in the days just before society fell apart, and his blood contains antibodies that are mankind’s last and best hope for a vaccine. However, Murphy harbors a dark secret that threatens them all. (From

The characters are fun and interesting. There are some scene where its a little bit scary and they there are others where you laugh out loud.

If you are expecting it to be like that other zombie show, you might be a little disappointed. It’s about zombies, but in a different view.

I like it and hope it stays on for a couple of more years. If you haven’t seen it yet, give it a try. Even if you don’t like it, you can get more hints for what to do when there is a Zombie Aocalypse.

TV Crush — Ted Shackelford

Here is my weekly post on my TV Crush — Ted Shackelford .

As a teenager – young adult, one of my favorite shows was Knots Landing. And one of the actors on the show that I had a TV crush on was Ted Shackelford who played Gary Ewing.

Knots Landing is an American primetime televisionsoap opera that aired from December 27, 1979, to May 13, 1993, on CBS. A spin-off of Dallas,

Garrison Arthur “Gary” Ewing (336 episodes)The son of Jock and Ellie Ewing, first introduced in the TV series Dallas. Gary, the middle Ewing son between J.R. and Bobby, was the family blacksheep and a recovering alcoholic. The true love of Valene’s life and father of their daughter Lucy (from Dallas) and twins Bobby & Betsy Ewing. After his arrival in California, he began working for Sid Fairgate at Knots Landing Motors, where he was eventually promoted to vice president. He was later fired by Karen after Sid’s death, and his marriage to Val was wrecked by his affair with Abby. After his father (Jock Ewing) died, he inherited $10 million and later married Abby, though the marriage ended after a couple of years. After a relationship with the scheming Jill Bennett, he later remarried Valene. (Ted Shackelford is the only cast member along with Michele Lee to remain in the series throughout its entire run, although unlike Lee, Shackelford didn’t appear in every episode). (From

Maybe that is when my fascination with blonde haired, blue-eyed men started.

Here are some pictures I found of Ted Shackelford… enjoy!

I was raised by the TV. As long as I can remember, I have been watching TV. It was my babysitter, my friend. Something that was there to comfort me, make me laugh or cry and just veg out when I needed to. Even as an adult, I’ll have the TV on in the background.

So this post is about one of the many TV Crushes I had with the actors or TV personalities I watched.

The Limit Is Me

I got thie in an e-mail I got from work.

I usually just take a glance at things like this, but this morning, I deceided to read it. And I’m glad I did. I made me sit and think and re-read it.

So now I am passing it along here.

Make it a great day!

Personal Growth, Personal Independence: The Limit Is Me

One day all the employees reached the office and they saw a big advice on the door on which it was written:
Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company passed away. We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been prepared in the gym“.

In the beginning, they all got sad for the death of one of their colleagues, but after a while they started getting curious to know who was that man who hindered the growth of his colleagues and the company itself.

The excitement in the gym was such that security agents were ordered to control the crowd within the room.

The more people reached the coffin, the more the excitement heated up. Everyone thought: “Who is this guy who was hindering my progress? Well, at least he died!“.

One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless. They stood nearby the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul.

There was a mirror inside the coffin: everyone who looked inside it could see himself.

There was also a sign next to the mirror that said:

There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU.

You are the only person who can revolutionize your life. You are the only person who can influence your happiness, your realization and your success. You are the only person who can help yourself.

Your life does not change when your boss changes, when your friends change, when your parents change, when your partner changes, when your company changes.

Your life changes when YOU change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs, when you realize that you are the only one responsible for your life.

Examine yourself, watch yourself.

Don’t be afraid of difficulties, impossiblilities and losses: be a winner, build yourself and your reality.

The world is like a mirror: it gives back to anyone the reflection of the thoughts in which one has strongly believed.

The world and your reality are like mirrors laying in a coffin, which show to any individual the death of his divine capability to imagine and create his happiness and his success.

Quote of the Day

One of the newsletters I get is from Matthew McConaughey’s foundation, just keep livin Foundation.

Here is the quote that was on the most recent newsletter.

“Curious. Stay curious… in yourself, your dreams, other people, places, and things…we get lazy, addicted, and in trouble when we are BORED…it’s a big world out there and it all starts with your mind. Curious.”
  ~ Matthew McConaughey

The j.k. livin Story

While filming Dazed and Confused, Matthew McConaughey was struggling with the passing of his father. It was during this time that he was overtaken by a saying that would soon change his life: “just keep livin” or “j.k. livin” as it’s called.

The McRib

From the website, Mental Floss, I saw this article…

39 Amazing Facts for National Trivia Day

by Jason English

Here is just one of the more interesting facts they had listed.

There are roughly 70 ingredients in the McRib.

I knew there was a reason I really didn’t care for the McRib.

10 McRib Facts
by Adrienne Crezo

1. There’s more to a McRib than barbecue sauce-slathered pork on a bun with onions and pickles. The sandwich contains a staggering 70 different ingredients, the least innocuous of which are “pig bits like tripe, heart, and scalded stomach.” Add in some azodicarbonamide, ammonium sulfate, ethoxylated mono- and diglycerides and… well, you get the idea.

2. But the one ingredient it doesn’t contain: Kangaroo meat. A persistent urban legend lingering around the interwebs says the rib-shaped patty is actually made of Australia’s famous roos. (It’s not.)

3. The McRib debuted on McDonald’s menus in 1981.

4. The sandwich was inspired during a trip to Charleston, South Carolina. McDonald’s Executive Chef Rene Arend was visiting the city and had several pulled pork sandwiches. He thought the flavor combination “should really go over.”

5. You can thank chicken farmers for the McRib’s invention. Turns out McNuggets, which debuted in 1979, were so popular that McDonald’s couldn’t keep up with demand. As Arend told Maxim, “There wasn’t a system to supply enough chicken. We had to come up with something to give the other franchises as a new product. So the McRib came about because of the shortage of chickens.”

6. And you can thank the Flintstones for its return. After mediocre sales, the McRib was pulled from the national menu in 1985. When The Flintstones hit theaters in 1994, McDonald’s capitalized on the resemblance between the slab o’ribs atop the Flintmobile and the pork patty, and brought it back as a movie tie-in. Rosie O’Donnell was in the commercial, but John Goodman declined.

7. But why is it shaped like that? The McRib is sort of famous for not containing ribs (bone or meat, really), so why does it look like a slab of ribs? Because, that’s why. “Some thought, why not just make it round?” recalls Arend. “It would’ve been easier. But I wanted it to look like a slab of ribs.” So there you have it.

8. In 2011, McDonald’s hosted the Quest for the Golden McRib. We don’t know what this means, but it seems there were Golden McRibs “virtually hidden in McDonald’s across the country.” Previous McRib events: the “Legend of the McRib” contest, which asked fans to create a mythical history for the sandwich (perhaps this is where the kangaroo meat legend came from?) and three McRib Farewell Tours, in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

9. A (fake) petition to save the McRib was featured on the McDonald’s site in 2005, sponsored by the Boneless Pig Farmers of America.

10. The process of turning meat into a McRib patty takes about 45 minutes. “The pork meat is chopped up, then seasoned, then formed into that shape that looks like a rib back,” Rob Cannell, director of McDonald’s U.S. supply chain, explained in Maxim. “Then we flash-freeze it. The whole process from fresh pork to frozen McRib takes about 45 minutes.”

Just remember all of this the next time you want a McRib sandwich.

What He Found In this Abandoned Nursing Home Is Amazing. I’d Never Expect It There.

December 17, 2013

Redditor sneakylawyer was urban exploring with his girlfriend in the small city of Ronse in Belgium when they stumbled upon this abandoned nursing home. What they discovered inside is truly amazing…

It was the fantastic graffiti work of local artist Pete One, a huge Batman fan, who had been using the abandoned building as a canvas for some of his work.
