Some Sayings to Live By

I have been seeing some sayings and quotes that really hit the nail on the head for what I’ve been going through lately.

You know it freaks me out when I read something that fits to what I’m thinking at the moment.

This kid is pretty smart.

I smell cake!*

WOW! It’s been a crazy past couple of days. There have been three actors and entertainers who have passed away recently. Actors and entertainers we grew up watching/listening to have been passing away.

I wanted to share my favorite songs by Prince. I grow up listen to his music.

I have to go with the first song that I ever heard by Prince:

If you want to see/hear what an amazing guitar player Prince was, you need to watch this video of Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison and others — “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. What talent that man had.

I saw this quote. If Eric Clapton, who I think is one of the world’s best guitarist says this… WOW!

Eric Clapton was asked about how it felt to be the world’s best guitarist. His response: “I don’t know. Ask Prince.”

R.I.P. and thank you for leaving your legacy for us to always have.

Notes:

* My brother, Joe and I would always say this to each other after someone famous died.

“I smell cake! If Uncle Bernie died, someone’s gonna have to go on a beer run!”— Dan Dorian

“My Cake” is the sixth episode of Scrubs’ fourth season. J.D.’s father dies and he and his brother Dan have to cope with it.

Song of the Day

You know there are certain songs that come on the radio that take you back to a special memory. Here is one that always takes me back to good times.

I Feel For You” (1984) by Chaka Khan.

In high school, it seemed that whenever the girl’s track team were at a school dance, we would request that song and all dance together. Not sure why it was that song, but it was.

There was one time, we came back from an invitational track meet during a school dance. We were still in our track clothes, all tried and dirty, but we crashed the dance and requested our song.

To this day, when I hear that song, it takes me back to the school dance and our team dancing to it.

Side Note:

WHT!! The was song written by Prince!? I’m I the lost one to know that Prince wrote this song? I’m in shock! Why didn’t I know this?

So Close

Man, I was so close to posting on my blog every day for the month of November!! I was playing around on my computer and watching TV yesterday and time just got away from me. Then when I looked at the clock, it was already the next day.

There is no rule that I have to post something every day, it was just something that I wanted to do. I like posting on my blog and I like hearing from people who read my blog — thanks guys! So I will finish out the month and post something and in December I will try once again to post something everyday.

Side Note:

Who knew??

From my previous post, I have been working on music list for my iPod. One if my lists is cover songs. Here is one song that I did not know was sung by someone else before. The song is “I Feel for You” by Prince and then by Chaka Khan.

I Feel for You” is a song written by Prince that originally appeared on his 1979 self-titled album. It became a hit single in 1984 for female R&B singer Chaka Khan, appearing on her album, which was also called I Feel for You. Prince won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 1985 for writing the song. (from Wikipedia.com)

I love Chaka Khan’s version of this song. It was a hit during my senior year in high school. I remember dancing to it with my friends at school dances.

I tell you, things you learn while working on something else.

Have a great day!
