“Golden Years”

Here is my song of the week (there could be another song of the week later, but for right now, this one is it).

Golden Years” (1975) by David Bowie. Check out this video that was on YouTube from 1975.  The dude was on Soul Train!!

From Wikipedia

Bowie allegedly got drunk to perform the song for the American TV show Soul Train; at the time he was one of the few white artists to appear on the program. The resultant video clip was used to promote the single and continued Bowie’s commercial success in the United States, where it reached #10 and charted for 16 weeks. It achieved #8 in the UK.

How funny is that!!

I think the first time I heard this song was in the movie  A Knight’s Tale (2001), starring the late Heath Ledger. After that, I had to find it for my music collection. The song is one of more played songs on my iPod (over 50 times).

Have a great start of the week.

Golden years, golden years whop whop

Side note:

David Bowie wrote this the intention of giving it to Elvis Presley. Elvis died two years later. (from Songfacts)

I wonder how that would of sounded!!
