Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)

There are certain songs that I seems to remember the words to and this is one of them.

“Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” (1972) by Looking Glass.

I was one;y six years old when this song came out, so I must of heard it the radio while I was growing up. I just always remember listening to the song. But until this post, I have never seen the video of this song. Man, the 70’s were definitely a fashion statement in spades.

Now, every time it comes on, I have to sing along with it. These are the songs that make me smile and remember the times of when I was young and carefree!

Just in case you want to sing along to the song.

Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl) by Looking Glass

(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda)

There’s a port on a western bay
And it serves a hundred ships a day
Lonely sailors pass the time away
And talk about their homes
And there’s a girl in this harbor town
And she works layin’ whiskey down
They say “Brandy, fetch another round”
She serves them whiskey and wine
The sailors say “Brandy, you’re a fine girl” (you’re a fine girl)
“What a good wife you would be” (such a fine girl)
“Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea”
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
Brandy wears a braided chain
Made of finest silver from the North of Spain
A locket that bears the name
Of the man that Brandy loves
He came on a summer’s day
Bringin’ gifts from far away
But he made it clear he couldn’t stay
No harbor was his home
The sailor said ” Brandy, you’re a fine girl” (you’re a fine girl)
“What a good wife you would be” (such a fine girl)
“But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea”
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
Yeah, Brandy used to watch his eyes
When he told his sailor stories
She could feel the ocean fall and rise
She saw its ragin’ glory
But he had always told the truth, lord, he was an honest man
And Brandy does her best to understand
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
At night when the bars close down
Brandy walks through a silent town
And loves a man who’s not around
She still can hear him say
She hears him say ” Brandy, you’re a fine girl” (you’re a fine girl)
“What a good wife you would be” (such a fine girl)
“But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea”
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
“Brandy, you’re a fine girl” (you’re a fine girl)
[FADE]
“What a good wife you would be” (such a fine girl)
“But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea”

I Smell Cake

MAN!! I was just checking the news feed and I saw this… 2017 is taking away the stars from my youth.

‘Happy Days’ Star Erin Moran Dies at 56.

I remember watching her on “Happy Days” and them later on “Joanie Loves Chachi”. Oh how I wanted to be Joanie on that show.

R.I.P. Erin Moran and thank you for making my youth fun.

I Did It Again

Well, seems I will never learn. Again, I thought I could trust someone and BAM! I get thrown under the bus!

When will I learn?

National Sinling Day

This is a picture from 1973 or 1974 of my older sister, Cynthia and younger brother, Joe.

It just my sister and I now. Joe, passed away at 46 in August 2014.

It will always be the three of us.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

This afternoon, I went to The Tobin Center to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a 1998 musical about a fictional rock and roll band fronted by an East German genderqueer singer.

The show starred,  Tony and Olivier Award-nominated Euan Morton and Hannah Corneau.

The show was amazing. The music, the acting, the set and the band was amazing.

I didn’t know anything about the play and I just sat in wonder wayching everything.

One of my favorite things about the show was the bass player, Matt Duncan (the one with the green hair.)

He was to cool place not the bass and singing background.

I was going back and forth on if I wanted to see this show, but I finally defended to buy a ticket. And I’m so glad I did.

I really want to see it again, just to catch what I missed.

So, I’ve already downloaded the Broadway soundtrack. Saw a couple of YouTube videos.

Now, I have to pget class the next show I’m going to see.

New Habit

109!

I truly believe that if you can stick to something for 30 days, it will become a habit.
